The Brazilian Kangaroo Generation
KANGUROO GENERATION: The difficult decision of when to jump out of the pouch.
Some say that a man is only an adjunct in the family. Others, who are his in regards to livelihood, say that he is the administrator or even the head of the household. Calm down, I won't talk about who runs or who doesn’t run the home... Not this time.
Well, it is certain that from the beginning a man grows and seeks to support those who depend on him, or around him, but that was a time when Fathers provided for the household alone. Nowadays, many parents live by their own children's income but that is not mere meanness no, it's pure statistics. These children are known as part of the "Kangaroo generation".
It is proven that most men between the ages of 25 and 34 prefer to stay in the house with their parents until they are financially stable. They postpone their own paternity to stay in the family longer. And I say men because 60% of the children who prefer to stay under the same roof as they spent during their childhood are males. It is remarkable that women are increasingly seeking independence, and this too, is a time when women are packing and straying from their first home to be living more freely, working, or to form a new family.
What may sound like the famous "daddy's son" is actually the opposite. The patriarch, often retired, now recognizes his son’s professional growth and supports him to stay longer and do that "sock".
Here is the main point of the children choosing to stay at home:
Forging a Home is expensive, and if parents can help, why not stay around in the comfort zone? Not that it's a bad thing. Just stop to think about buying, building or even renting a residence nowadays. There is bureaucracy and money of course. And the kangaroos travel, collect diplomas and designer clothes but prefer to remain single without the headache of running a home alone. At least for now, because we're not just talking about adults living with parents but the comfort and convenience of acquiring their financial independence without having to risk investing blindly or even avoiding untying that Home Sweet Home.
